And I've got 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5......

..Senses working overtime.
That's my day today.
Seeing : A huge crowd of people doing some lunchtime Tai Chi in the graveyard of St Anns in Soho. It's such an antidote to the random, whirling vortex that is the centre of Soho, to see people gently windmilling... Slowing the pace of the city around them.
Hearing: Children playing in the playground of the school I walk past on my way to Brighton Station. It's a sound that never fails to bring a smile whilst simultaneously reminding you that every year your childhood gets further and further away.
Smelling: Fresh cut grass on the verges of Dyke Road (again, on the way to the station)
Touching: Went to the Record and Tape Exchange on my way through Soho (no surprise there), and had to give a second opinion on an old Disco 12" that a member of staff was buying. Felt the vinyl flexing in my hands, running my index finger over the mastering stamp to try and ascertain if it was legit (wasn't a stamp I was familiar with)
Tasting: Some fine, salty Edamame for my lunch.

It's a beautiful world and when your senses are pinging like this, it's not just a pleasure, it's a privilege

3 posts in a day?

Let's celebrate by KILLING SOME ZOMBIES :)

Crikey! itunes invented 22 years ago?

Care to guess as to who might have *invented* it? Step up to the plate: Frank Zappa.

Hurrah!

You know, *all* the truly best bands in the world sounded like they didn't have a clue what was actually happening at the moment of musical creation. The Moulsecoomb Sword Gang are no exception. It seems to me that's it's all about shortening the distance between thought and expression; until all your left with is an excitable blip of the heart, the tiniest intake of breath. If it makes you grin like a buffon as well....then that's a big bonus.

Just One Word.

Today, I'm in love with the power that one word can have. As proof, I offer you "S.O.S." By Abba. There's a point just after the middle eight where the chorus lyrics change from: "..The love you gave me, nothing else can save me.." To: "...AND the love you gave me, nothing else can save me.." One word. Just one word. Slays me, every single time.
Remember, sometimes it's not about the content of the words, but recognizing they have an inchoate power, learning to harness that power...And then sitting back with a smile on your face as it slays mere mortals like me.

A tale to warm the heart....

Remember Flash Mobs? A little bit geeky for their own good, too anonymous..and in the end, rather pointless. So, where do we go from here then? Well, we go here. It's like flashmobbing, but with an added conscience, also a sense of empathy with their chosen subjects. As an example, check this one out. When you've done that: read the response. It put a grin on my face a mile wide. Today, it's exactly what I needed.

I think it's high time we had some Strongbad goodness. This one made me laugh out loud more times than is strictly necessary.

I realise that it's a dull Bank Holiday Monday,so I feel that I should at least provide you with some form of entertainment. OK, have this: probably my favourite web game ever. (OK, it's more of a puzzle, but it's stunning, nonetheless)
RIP, My IPOD.
So, that's the price I pay for being an "early adopter", 18 months and then pfft: a totally dead battery. But, as ever, there's a lesson to be learned; mine is that itunes is far more important to me than the ipod. If all the 9000 tunes i've got on my laptop had vanished... i'd be in serious trouble. As is, I just need a new ipod. Oh well.

Phew......
Well, that was a busy week or so... DJ-ed all over the place, all of the gigs different and all of them great. Top of the pile has to be Razzmatazz in Barcelona, playing to a packed room at 4 in the morning! It's one of the best clubs I've been to in my life, utter hedonism and a totally up-for-it crowd. Also played at Hooga, which gave me the opportunity to mix it up a little, played everything from old rocksteady to hardcore in the space of a couple of hours...Then there was the Krazyhouse in Liverpool..What was that one like? One word. Carnage. Also played a set at Transmission (which was ROCKING) and gave me the chance to catch up with Jeff, who I haven't seen for years...On top of all that, DJ-ed at the Keane gig, as well as launching the O2 wireless music festival. Fitted some gigs in as well..Notably , last night, Rilo Kiley at the Astoria. Great gig, but an annoyingly short set... Need to see them at a show of their own.
