OK then.......

You've waited long enough. It was going to happen last week, but we had some issues with consolidation of the Javascript yadda yadda yadda.........
But I think it's time to let you know what I've been doing.
I've been working on this.
Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to Shadowglobe.
Go easy on it for now, it's still in a Beta state, there will be bugs to find, problems to iron out....there will also be a whole raft of new features to be added when we move to phase two of the launch. But for now, sit back, have a listen, tell me what you think, I'd love to get any feedback you might have........
Over to you then!
:)

Well, it's looking good so far...there's bound to be blips on the Horizon, there always is with sites like this (and let's face it, we're small fry at the moment) but i've got my fingers crossed it continues to look good and to grow.....
Onwards and upwards!

Looks (and more importantly sounds!) great!

Wouldn't send me the confirm email with my first account though :S

It's great. One thing I noticed - once I've "rated" an artist, nothing happens when I try to rate the next one.

Some bloomin good moozic tho!!

Brilliant. Love it. I think I'll spend much of my working day tomorrow hooked up and checking out some new music.

One thing I did notice (and a very tiny thing at that) is that after I'd logged in a message appeared that said something like 'would be good if this automatically logged users in', which I s'pose shouldn't be seen. Aside from that it was all good, and I look forward to playing around with it a bit more in the days to come!

Tim, I'm working on getting that inactive link set to a generic Shadowglobe profile, which will contain links to all the other relevant sites (Facebook group, Twitter page,Status Blog etc...)

First of all I want to congratulate you on the great site. I love the idea behind it, we definitely needed something like this..it's gonna be big!

Now a few things:
1. As a blind user who uses a screenreader it would be nice that either the website doesn't start playing music as soon as you get on it, but that you can
start it with very simple click at the top or something..or that there's an easy way of temporarrilly disabling it (maybe it is possible with the flash
parts of the site, but they're pritty inaccessible to screenreaders). I know that this is still beta and that you got other priorities, but it's something
I wanted to point out as a personal thing.
2. I also am having problems getting conformation emails..tried registering twice last night with different usernames, but same email address, never got
anything (mind you haven't checked email since late last night).
Otherwise like said at the beginning lovin' the site, definitely lovin' the music! Keep it going!

Hey Vanja,
on point number 1, I've got to admit it's something we hadn't thought about, but we will now. I'll bring it up with the people who designed the flash interface and see if there's a solution.
On point number two, there have been a few people whose confirmation emails have ended up in their "junk mail" folders. THe confirmation email is an automated response, so sometimes the junk mail filters detect that and place it in the junk mail box. Try looking there first, if it still hasn't arrived, let me know!

Hi Iain,

I have solved the flash problem. After playing about a bit more with the system I worked out how to stop and play the stream. Although it's not perfect because buttons are not labeled, it's possible to do. So if you tell the people who developped it just to label the buttons it'd make life even easier, but it's actually not so bad now. However, I checked all my junk folders even serverside, but I'm not getting emails. BTW, is there a better/easier/quicker way of contacting you? I don't have a problem doing it this way of course, just wondering.

Vanja, Hmmm, that's an odd one. I'll do some chasing and see what i can find. I've tested the site to see if the log-in process is working OK, and it is......
Contact-wise, i'm either here, on Twitter, or on the Shadowglobe forums, which are up and running as of this morning.

I love it!
Looks and sounds brilliant.

Only thing I'd say is to echo Vanja - not a fan of autostart, even for a radio station. But maybe I'm wrong. And with audio stuff, attention to accessibility, button labelling, hotkeys and things like Skip Navigation could win you much love. Flash has had lots of good accessibility features built in now, I think.

Hurray for great radio. Lots of people I need to tell about this. Good work :)

cheers!
our first goal was to get it looking and sounding great, and judging by the feedback we've had so far, we've done OK.....
Obviously there's loads of things we want to add to the site in terms of functionality and features etc....but for now we're just focussing on keeping the stream up and monitoring how the site performs........
