One of the wonderful things about the new job...

Is its location: I absolutely LOVE being in Soho. Popped out for lunch today, past The Blue Posts, the market traders furtively playing poker outside Yauatcha, the brothel madams on the pavements of Berwick Street, having a crafty cigarette in the sun, dripping in cheap gold and sporting battered slingbacks and velour tracky bottoms: there are children playing in the school yards, people practising Tai-Chi in the grounds of St.Anns church....
I'm loving London, and loving life.

I'm jealous. I've been in a permanent state of hating London, ever since I arrived 10 years ago. The only times I ever really fall in love with it are when I'm working in Soho & Covent Garden or visiting friends who live there, and I think YES, this is what London should be like. More real, less commutery, denser. Leon on Carnaby St, opposite Liberty's is a good place for an anti-sandwich lunch, particularly in the summer. My brother-in-law owns it, so I'm biased, but it *is* brilliant.

Lucky blighter. plus you can take a leisurely stroll home through Hyde Park. I miss working in town now I'm back out on the Wood Lane ghetto. Can't even get a decent sandwich now.

Wood Lane is a bit of a backwater isn't it? Wonder what's going to happen when then huge shopping centre opens? Will anyone end up using that station between Shepherd's bush and Latimer Road? My guess is that the tube will take less than a minute to go from one station to another....
Hyde Park? that sounds like a GREAT idea, cheers, i'm having that one....

Hi Iain, thought you might be interested in this, as it was you who made that comment about the Manics album cover!

Hahahaha! Well, i wasn't really setting out to piss them off, but the cover just left me feeling uncertain..looks like that uncertainty is reflected by the band...
